Professional Boxing in Sri Lanka, Atom Weight Title to be decided

Creating boxing history in Sri Lanka, the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Women's World Title Boxing Championship will get underway on Saturday the 19th of December at Stein Studios Ratmalana at 6.30pm, and will showcase the boxing talent of world class female boxers from Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.

The event will be held with the participation of a large gathering of local and international dignitaries, and will be the first of its kind to be held in South Asia.

Featuring Atom weight champion Nao Ikeyama from Japan and Jujeath Nagaowa from the Philippines, the world title match with 10 rounds will take centre-stage.

The event will also see a Super flyweight event with 8 rounds, as well as a women's wrestling bout. The event promises an evening of intense sporting action along with stellar entertainment performances by both local and international artistes.

A highlight of the show will be a guest appearance by world wrestling great Antonio Inoki, who is fondly remembered for his 1976 performance in the ring against Muhammed Ali.

The programme will be telecast live on Sirasa TV and is organised by the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited under its Sports1st brand, in association with Yasushi Hirayama of Futur Promotions and Daisuke Kato of the Global Sports Academy in Japan.
