20,Oct 2011 (CRiCTURF.COM): Carlton Super 7s Rugby 2011 a totally new encounter is scheduled to kicks off its first phase at Nittawela Stadium, Kandy on October 29 and 30.
Carlton Sports Club in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) will conduct the tournament in a unique format, similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL) which will be a turning chapter in the world rugby tournament structure.
The second phase, including grand finale will be worked off on November 5 and 6 at the Royal Sports Complex, Colombo.
Foreign players and Coaches are scheduled to arrive to the country and join their respective teams during the next week. Training sessions for participating teams will be conducted by their respective foreign coaches in cooperation with National coaching body.
Mini Rugby events too will be carried out during the main tournament for youngsters who are playing rugby in school level.
Structure of the tournament
10 Teams will play in two groups (Pools ) as "Pool A" & "Pool B". Five Pool Teams will play against each other during the league stage. Pools and play schedule as per below.
