(29th June 2012,Cricturf) : Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene expressed his views about the Umpire Decision Review System at the pre match press conference before the 2nd Test against Pakistan tomorrow(30th) in Colombo.

"Like I said, I am a little pond in a big pond I have my own view and lots of others have their own other views"
"We involved quite a bit in the last 15 years in international cricket & going forward. Now I can see lot of the other sports are using technology. Even football now is using the available technology, and Tennis uses the Hawkeye. We are using certain technologies in certain tournaments. Some of the countries are okay with that and its up to the respective boards to know whether to use it or not."
He recalled a situation which is similar to what Pakistan had to face in the 1st Test at Galle because of the poor umpiring.
"We had quite a few similar situations. Even in Dubai last year against Pakistan, we did not have UDRS. In that occasion, quite a few decisions went against us. So I think it is unfortunate. But I think for hundreds of years we played without DRS. But as I said, if the technology is there, why not use it?"
ICC's cricket committee and its Chief Executives Committee have recommended the universal application of the Decision Review System (DRS). But still could not put to a vote by the Executive Board. The BCCI has been the sole objector to making DRS mandatory in international cricket .
