Janashakthi Insurance Beat MAS to win Mercantile Sixes Title

01, July 2012 (Cricturf): Mercantile Cricket Sixes tournament concluded today at Mercantile Cricket Association Premises. 36 Mercantile teams participated for the tournament and matches played yesterday (30) & today(01) at DS Senanayake Grounds, Thurstan Gorunds & MCA Grounds. 


The 1st Semi Final Played between MAS Unichela "A" and MAS Unichela "B", MAS Unichela "B" won by 1 wicket against their brother team.

The Second Semi Final played between Janashakthi Insurance "A" team vs MAS Active, MAS active Batted first and they were only able to score 31 Runs for 3 wickets in 3 overs. Rain Stopped play and drizzle effected the game, umpires and officials decided Bowl Out to decide winners of rest.

MAS Active versus Janashakthi game decided in Bowl Out Method and Janashakthi were through to the finals. (Bowl Out Result 05-04) 

in Finals Janashakthi again succeeded against Unichela "B" in Bowl Out to win the Mercantile Sixes Trophy.

Mr. Ashley Rathnayaka Senior Vice President of MCA attended as the chief guest of the Presentation party, Vice President Gamini Wickramasinhe attended as Guest of Honor at the presentation.

Sanjaya Gangodawila of Unichela "A" was named as best bowler of the Tournament.

Malintha Pushpakumara of Janashakthi "A" was named as best Batsman of the Tournament.

Malin Silva of Unichela "B" named as Man of the Tournament for his contribution to the team.

Lassna Perera of Unichela was awarded for Highest Number of 6s through out the tournament.

Malintha Pushpakumara again awarded as Player of the Final for his performance at Bowl Out.
