Dilshan ton powers Sri Lanka to crushing win in 2nd CB Series final against Australia
Sri Lanka staged a fantastic comeback from their defeat at Brisbane to win the second CB Series final against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday, beating them comprehensively by 8 wickets and 34 balls to spare. Both Australia and Sri Lanka have now won one final each, which means the third final will be a do-or-die situation for both teams. After being asked to bowl first, Sri Lanka could do little to restrict the in-form David Warner and skipper Michael Clarke, who registered their respective tons, taking Australia to a competitive total of 271 runs in 50 overs. In response, the Lankan openers got off to a flying start with skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan attacking the bowlers from the first ball. It proved to be a good mandatory Powerplay for the Lankans, who did not lose a single wicket in the first 10 overs and also notched 74 runs on the board. Brief scores: Australia 271 for 6 in 50 overs (Michael Clarke 117, David Warner 100; Lasith Malinga 3 for 40) lost to Sri Lanka 274 for 2 in 44.2 overs (Tillakaratne Dilshan 106, Mahela Jayawardene 80; Brett Lee 1 for 41, James Pattinson 1 for 47).
