Isipathana beat Royal in a thriller to regain Milroy Fernando Trophy

Sri Lanka Schools Division A Rugby final week started today (22) with the match between Isipathana College vs Royal College at Longdon place CR & FC Ground.

Isipathana Team Celebrating the vicotory with school mates.

Isipathana entered the game with a moral boosting victory against St. Peters College last week. Isipathana beat Peters 46-20 to advance in points table. Royal College of Colombo lost their last week match against at Bradby Shield 1st leg against Trinity college Kandy 11-34. Royal College unbeaten run end with the game lost. Royal College became unbeatem league champions in 2011.

Isipathana college opened scoring at 5th minute of the match with a try, but Royal fight back to maintain the lead at half time against Pathana.

Wing Three of Isipathana Uditha Tharanatha scored hattrick tries at 1st half to earn thier score line.

Half Time : Royal 17 (2G 1P) - Isipathana 15 (3T) 

Royal lead the game at death stage of the game with score line of 22 - 20, Isipathana showed their capabilities with out standing double converted tries to marginally lead against Royals in extra injury time.

Final Score : Isipathana (2G 4T) - Royal ( 2G 1T 1P)

Isipathana College regained Milroy Fernando Trophy under their belt and end the league with 43.5 points with 7 Wins 1 draw (against Vidyartha at 1st match) & a 1 game lost (Lost against Trinity)

This is the 12th occasion that The Milroy Fernando Trophy won by Isipathana College while Royal won only for 7 Time. 

Royal ended the league with disappointing mentality with their consecutive losses at end of the league. Royal Gained 40.5 points with 6 wins and 2 losses. (lost against Trinty & Isipathana)
