Sri Lanka Under 19 won 1st match against Afganistan at Asia Cup

(23rd June 2012): Sri Lanka U19 team won against the Afganistan U19 team today(23) at the Asian Cricket Council Under 19s Asia cup held in Malaysia. Sri Lanka is playing in the Group B and will play against Afganistan, Bangladesh and Qatar.

Afghanistan managed to score 129 for all out in 34.5 overs. Shabir Noori was the highest scorer in the Afganistan innings with a score of 25 while Javed Ahamadi scored and Najibullah Zadran scored 18 and 17 respectively. Tharindu Kaushal of Devapathiraja College Rathgama picked 4 wickets for 19 Runs where as Ranitha Liyanarachchi of St. Peters College picked 3 wickets for 44 Runs and Amila Aponso of Sebastians College Moratuwa picked 2 wickets for 15 Runs.

In Reply , Sri Lanka crossed the target of 130 runs in just 35.4 Overs with a  6 wickets down. Sadun Weerakkodi of Dharmaraja College Kandy scored the highest score in Sri Lankan camp with 42 while Lahiru Madushanka of St. Thomas College Mathale ended the game with 23 Runs not out.

Sri Lanka will play the 2nd match against Bangladesh Under 19s tomorrow at Kuala Lampur.

In Other matches India U19 beat Malaysia by 8 wickets.

  • India Under-19s 130/2 (31.0 ov)
  • India Under-19s won by 8 wickets (with 114 balls remaining)
