Sri Lanka Cricket has issued a statement saying that it stands by their opening batsman T. M. Dilshan over recent media reports accusing him of having contacts with Indian actress Nupur-Mehta who has connections with some suspected individuals in match fixing.

The media release states that Dilshan was performing to the best of his abilities representing Sri Lanka in all formats of the game.

"As you are well aware, Dilshan, who is a former Captain of the Sri Lanka National Team and an iconic Sri Lanka National player, would undoubtedly have a large following of fans from all parts of the globe.

"Sri Lanka Cricket does not intend on commenting on the said story any further in view of its baseless nature," the media release further stated.
