Sri Lankan U19 team has lost to Indian U19s in the 2nd Semi final of the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup, which held at Kuala Lumpur. Sri Lanka came in to the semi finals as the top team from 'Group B' [Other teams were : Afghanistan, Bangladesh & Qatar]. Sri Lankan captain Sanitha de Mel won the toss & elected to bat first. Sri Lankan openers Pabasara Waduge & Shehan Fernando were off to a cautious start making just 38 runs in 10 overs. Waduge falls for 45 from 71 & scoreboard reads at that time as 89/3 in 26.3 overs.

Then middle order batsman from Dharmaraja College, Sandun Weerakkody came & made run a ball 73. Wicket keeper Niroshan Dickwella from Trinity College, gave a good support to Sandun by smashing 66 from 50 balls. Thanks  to these to Kandians Sri Lanka able to made a respectable total of 244 in their 50 overs. Baba Aprajith & Harmeet Singh took 2 wickets each.

Sri Lankan medium pacer Lahiru Madushanka was able to restrict Indian openers Skipper Unmukt Chand & Manan Vohra's opening partnership to 27 by getting Vohra's wicket in the 6th over. But then Chand anchored their innings & made two match winning partnerships with Baba Aparajith (65) & Vijay Zol (105). Chand 166 (141) , Zol 54 (71). Off spinner Tharindu Kaushal from Devapathiraja College, Galle took 2 wickets. Indian juniors scored 247 for 4 in 47.1 overs & won by 6 wickets.

Since Pakistan won the 1st semi final against Afghanistan, India have to face Pakistan in the final of Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup, 2012.
