It was reported earlier that the Sri Lankan blind cricket team's participation in doubt for the inaugural Twenty20 Blind Cricket World Cup, India. Main reason for this chaos was no one has offered to sponsor the Blind cricketers for their kits, air tickets and other needs. The tournament to be held from 1st to 13 the December in Banglore, competing 9 teams; Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies.
"Winning the blind WT20 for the country is our target. All of us are working hard for it. Just 10 more days left for the tour. But still we haven't got a main sponsor to sponsor especially for cloths, equipment and air tickets. We are training with uncertain." said Madushanka Vishvanath of Sri Lanka blind cricket team on 20th. As media reports, these cricketer do not even have a proper cricket ground for their training.
Today (22nd) we have learnt Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan has agreed to sponsor for blind cricket team's cloths after he saw a News report on one of the local TV channels. "I saw our blind cricketers doing their practices when I was watching the News. I got to know that they are facing many difficulties. I spoke to the relevant authorities and players about their problems. They even don't have a proper cricket ground for training sessions. They are trying to participate for the tournament with many difficulties. So I thought to help as much as I can. Because they are going to participate for a World Cup. I think people should back these players and support them to do well. We couldn't win the WT20 final, so I thought we should to support these players to win the world cup for the country." Dilshan stated.
"We are really happy. Until now we could not get our clothing for the tour. What Dilshan aiya did is a big help for us. Our cricket team have to go to India in couple of days. Our only hope is winning the world cup for the country with all this support." said gladsome Madushanka Vishvanath after meeting T.M. Dilshan at Dilshan's home.
