England vs Sri lanka ODI series end with favor of England. England clinch the victory to seal the series 3-2. Sri Lanka lost the Test series 1-0 early this tour cause to expose bowling incompatibilities for long structured formation.
ODI tour given some hope for Sri Lanka lovers with the comprehensive win in T20.
ODI' shuttled both ways and sri Lanka lead the series for several day. The Manchester game became the most important to decide series winners.
Game started with some pull backs by English media. Sri Lanka expected a green topped wicket which Englishman performed well in their first 2 wins.
The day exposed to decider, the wicket condition wasn't that bad for Sri Lankan formations. England won the toss and elected to bat 1st it was a brave decision to take against Sri Lanka. Conditions were more favorable for Sri Lankan line up.
Sri Lanka started the game without top wicket taker of the tour Suranga Lakmal lead to 4 week rest for his injury. Dimuthu Karunarathna the latest prospect took oath for International Career as a opener.
Things gone worst for Sri Lanka at 1st stage of the match. English openers dominated 1st 10 overs with a reasonable total and Run Rate. The decision of using batting power play turned game upside down for a while. England lost their 3 key players at that dark period. Batting power play produced 14 runs for 3 wickets.
Dammika Prasad replacement of Lakmal showed his consistency with the decent length and fortunate to grab useful wickets in to his bag. Trott and Morgan again took England back to the game with a recenable 4th wicket partnership. Randive Changed the game, once it showed English projected score as over 300.
Suraaj Randive made a milestone at hi career with 5 wickets haul for 42 at English soil. His performance exposed jingle for Sri Lankas most needed bowling option secured. After Murali departure the position remained vacant to find out the best prospect to full fill the veterans position.
Sri Lanka bowling options looked so weak when comparing early performance. Seamers not bothered to maintain a decent length, it cost flying start for England openers.
Young players again performed well while master players fail. The Management made some strange changes for the batting line up and it looked so confuse for our performers. Mahela dropped down to 4th and Chandimal Appeared as 5th Batsman.
Dilshan against Failed at open and achieved the worst life time experience for his file. Dilshan only scored 17 Runs in 5 inning and highest was 9. Mahela released his pressure in early matches, but with mass restoration the batting line up he couldn't get back to his action. New Comer Dimuthu Karunarathna Gone for 4 runs due to lack of his experience. Dilshan trapped to a quick short ball and pulled in to safe hands.
Mahela Started aggressively and fall short for 9. Chandimal got his gears up and made a great partnership with Master piece Sangakkara to rebuild the broken inning. His stunning approach brought crowed in to edge of their seats. He released Sangakkaras pressure with impressive shot around the wicket and 2 balls left in to crowed over bowlers head.
He was outstanding in his small age, he played matured inning with gears. He looked good make a big score again to his name. Unfortunate or inexperience paid lot for his inning cause him stopping. Sangakkara departs for 48.
Jeevan Medis and Mathews Took game forward with a much needed partnership of 102. Mathews again succeeded and proved that he is the care taker for Sri Lanka. Jeevan Mendis played some nail biting strokes to release pressure. Most needed middle order for Sri Lanka found at last. Jeevan Mendis dropped from World Cup due to lack of experience. And both Chandimal and Jeevan proved that they are not newbie's any more.
With overall performance of our players they proved the future of cricket with young battalion. Seniors should understand to make sure to continue their consistency.
