After our performances in the T20 matches, we really let ourselves down in the first ODI match.Getting off to a winning start in any series is always important but we did not do ourselves any justice for which the batting unit has to take the blame.
Not batting out 50 overs is a cardinal sin and to be seven wickets down in just the 23rd over is inexcusable. In effect, we lost our first seven wickets in the space of 13 overs, as the first wicket fell in the 10th over. It was simply not good enough and very disappointing.
Mitchell Johnson bowled really well but at the same time, many of us got out to poor shot-making and we cannot afford to make the same mistakes again.
