Syria U22 beat Sri Lanka to remain Top at AFC U22 Qualifiers

29, June 2012 (Cricturf): Sri Lanka Under22 Football team  beaten by Syria Last night at their Group stage match. Sri Lanka U22 team participating at Asia Football Confederation Under22 Cup Qualifier matches at Saudi Arabia. 

Sri Lanka playing in Group "B", Sri Lanka youngsters were able to draw both matches against Palestine (1-1) & against Pakistan (0-0), Sri Lanka captain Devinda Bandara was the only scorer for Sri Lanka so far with a goal against Palestine to draw the match.

Sri Lanka played their 3rd match against Syria last night with hope of a win. Syria enterd to the game unbeaten with 2 wins under their belt. The first half of the match was tied with both team players performances. Syrian Mid-fielder Mahmaud Almawas strike at 30th minute to take early lead against Sri Lanka & the 1st half end 1-0 lead by Syria. The goal scorer Almawas extend the lead with his 2nd goal at 60th minute. Syrina 3rd goal was a mistake of Sri Lanka Midfield player Chales, two yellow card were produced against Syria during the entire game. Syrian Substitute Forward Salem wrapped the match at extratime of the match with a fabulous goal and the final score appeared as 4-0. The marginal victory of Syrian Under22 team dragged Sri Lanka U22 to 4th position from 3rd at point table.

Sri Lanka will play their next match against Saudi Arabia at their home crowd on 30th (18.00 Local Time / Stadium: King Fahd International Stadium, Riyadh) and the last match will play on 3rd against Kyrgyzstan (20.30 Local Time/ Stadium: King Fahd International Stadium, Riyadh).
