(17th July 2012,Cricturf): A notable addition to the tournament was the partnering of MCC Spirit of Cricket with the SLPL. Former Sri Lankan Skipper and the world no.1 Test player at the moment Kumar Sangakkara represented the MCC Spirit of Cricket and read out a special message from the head of the MCC at the SLPL launch and also gave his comments regarding the tournament.
