27, July (Cricturf): At the press conference held earlier today for the Sri Lanka Premier League, it was revealed that the official mascot of the SLPL will be named "Silva". Brand Ambassadors of the SLPL Bhathiya and Santhush introduced "Silva" to the media present while also informing that the name was chosen after a competition was kept among the Sri Lanka Cricket fans to suggest names for the Mascot which is a large bright yellow lion with a blue mane.
The mascot which was first introduced without a name at the launch ceremony of the SLPL a few weeks back grabbed a lot of attention by the Sri Lankan Cricket fans for its uniqueness and the Sri Lanka flavour of having the lion as the mascot.
The organizers have informed that the mascot will be present in all the 24 matches to be played from the 11th August to 31st August 2012 in Colombo and Kandy.
