13, August 2012 (Cricturf): Nagenahira Naga's showcased an outstanding victory 7 wicket victory today against Kandurata Warriors, Tilan Samaraweera captain of Warriors won the toss and elected to Bat 1st at R Premadasa Stadium under flood lights. Warriors lost two of their seniors players Kumar Sangakkara & Sanath Jayasuriya before the series start due to injuries and Sanga will not available for the entire tournament.
Young Alvitigala took the wicket of captain Samaraweera for 1 run in 2nd over of the match and the loss of Samaraweera's wicket effected the Kandurata's game plan. Sinhalese Sport Club skipper wicket keeper batsman Kaushal Silva shown some character along with Kithruwan Vithanage (Under 22 Players of the team) to uplift Warriors fallback. Vithanage and Mishbah scored 24 each and Tisara Perera was the star of the inning with his batting showcase.
Tisara took Nagas bowlers out of the park with four massive sixes and 6 boundaries, Tisara scored 72 Runs in 33 balls to lift Warriors inning to a competitive score of 159 for 7 wickets.
Sachith Pathirana, Ajantha Mendis and Ben Laughlin picked 2 wickets each of Warriors inning and Tisara were the highest scorer of the warriors inning.
Nagas showed their potential with the bat from the beginning, Imran Nazir and Ahamed Shehzad of Pakistan formed a 85 runs partnership for the 1st wicket in 52 deliveries. Imran Nazir gone for 58 runs as the 1st wicket of Nagas and few drop chances of Warriors lead them to suffer end of the match.
Nazir overtaken Tisara Perera's record of 4 sixes and hit 5 sixes over boundaries, Nazir only faced 32 deliveries for his 58. Angelo Mathews steered Nagenahira Nagas with unbeaten 42 runs for a comprehensive win by 7 wickets and this is their 2nd consecutive win in this tournament.
