(27th August 2012,Cricturf) : The final league stage match of the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League took place between Nagenahira Nagas and Uva Next today(27) at R Premadasa Stadium. This match decided the positions of teams and the oppositions in the Semi finals.
Uva Next skipper Thilina Kandamby won the toss and elected to bat first. Uva performed well from the beginning to score a competitive score of 160. Young Dilshan Munaweera keeping up his form scored 45 runs in 35 deliveries with 3 sixes as the highest scorer of the inning while skipper Kandamby scored 33. Kanishka Elvitigala and Shaminda Eranga were the leading wicket takers for Nagenahira Nagas with 2 wickets each.
Nagenahira Nagas chasing a target of 161 runs in 20 overs comprehensively reached the target with 5 balls remaining. Imran Nazir again started the Nagas innings with a blistering innings of 44 in 25 deliveries. Rest of the Nagas batsmen Travis Birt (33) and Angelo Mathews (43*) followed Nazir and scored well to take Nagas near the win. Angelo Mathews played a captains innings and showed character during his unbeaten 43. Charith Jayampathi was the only successful wicket taker for Nagas with 2 wickets.
