06, Nov 2011 (CricTurf): Sri Lankan Under 23 Team contesting at South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) regional countries T20 tournament at Fuvahmulah Grounds, Maldives lead by Umesh Karunarathna won the Semi Finals against Afghanistan today to reach the final Tomorrow.

Afghanistan was the team with the highest total of the tournament with the 316 they scored against Maldives at the beginning of the tournament. However, at today's semi final Sri Lanka youngsters were able to restrict the Afghans for 127.

20 Year old Right arm Fast bowler Irosh Samarasooriya showed fantastic bowling by picking up 5 wickets for just 20 runs in his 4 overs. Irosh is a former cricketer from Richmond College Galle and currently playing his first class cricket for Moors Sports Club.

After Sri Lanka innings started, the batting collapsed at early and it caused a unnecessary urgency and a pressure for the players to reach the easy target. Former Royal College Captain Ramitha Rambukwella scored 64 runs to strengthen Sri Lanka's run chase and he was well backed by the Vice Captain and also the last match centurion Anjelo Perera who contributed a quick unbeaten 20. Anjelo so far is the tournaments top Scorer with 290 runs in 4 Matches so far with 3 not out innings managing an average of 290.00.

Pakistan reached the final tomorrow after their win against Maldives.

Sri Lankan Under 23's team will play against Pakistan's Under 25 Tomorrow (7th) at 1.30PM for the Finals of SAARCT20.
