The tickets for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 tournament to be held in Sri Lanka in September this year was official launched this evening at a grand event in the Galle Face Green. The event kicked off at around 7.00pm this evening with the arrival of the dignitaries. Minister of Sports in Sri Lanka Hon.Mahindananda Aluthgamage launched the tickets for the event along with the Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council Mr.Haroon Logat and Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Upali Dharmadasa. The event was felicitated by many other dignitaries also including the current Vice Captain of Sri Lanka Cricket Team Angelo Mathews and former Captain of Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Shashikala Siriwardene.
Fans of Cricket in Sri Lanka were treated at the event with a special raffle draw for 800 tickets given out free. A special Z-Card was distributed to all fans that were present with a serial number in them and a draw for 400 cards was put. Each winning card won 2 tickets for a match in the tournament. Sri Lankan Vice Captain Angelo Mathews did the honor of drawing the first 20 winners while Sri Lanka Women’s Team former Captain Shashikala Siriwardene drew the second slot of 20 winners and the rest were drawn by a computerized system which was displayed on the giant screens present around the event area.
Ticket sales for the ICC World Twenty20 2012 Sri Lanka would start at 9.00am on the 26th of March 2012 at the Box Office counters and at selected Moneygram counters at Bank of Ceylon Branches. A special 4 day period will be allocated for Sri Lankans to purchase the tickets after which global sales of tickets would start on the 30th of March 2012. All people purchasing the tickets have to produce a valid National Identity Card or any other valid identification document to purchase tickets. Only a receipt for the sale of ticket would be given to the customer at the time of purchase and the tickets will have to be collected after the 1st of August 2012 by the purchaser providing the receipt of purchase and the valid identification document produced during purchase of tickets.
Note: Match Tickets can be collect only from 1st of August 2012 - You can book your tickets in advance from tomorrow. Please make sure to request a printed receipt with a serial Number for the purchased tickets.
