(8th August) The Official Event song of the ICC World T20 tournament to be held in Sri Lanka next month named "Vissai Vissa" was launched yesterday to the public over the internet and social media by the ICC.
The song is sung by Sri Lankas pop and rap duo Bhathiya and Santhush along with Umaria while Dinesh Kanagaratnam sings the tamil rap part of the song. The song has a catchy tune with "Papare" and other Sri Lankan flavoured music being used with a flavour of celebration mixed into it. The song captures the spirit and energy of Sri Lanka and the Island’s unique celebratory ‘papare’ music style, the song reflects the promise of the ICC World Twenty20; twenty times more passion, energy and excitement.
While the Sinhala version caters to the local audience, an International version of the song has also been made featuring Bathiya Jayakody, Santhush Weeraman, Arjun Coomaraswamy, Randhir Withana and Umaria Sinhwansa to cater to the international audience.
Along with the launch of the song, a campaign was also started by BnS to hunt for fans to star in the official music video. The campaign is where fans are requested to upload a video of them signing and dancing to the song in the most craziest / creative / celebrative way and upload it onto YouTube as "Video Responses" to the Official Music Video song and the videos that are shortlisted by the ICC will be reuploaded again and the fans in the videos that gain the most "Likes" or "Thumbs Ups" on YouTube will be requested to come and participate in the video which is scheduled to be released worldwide on the 7th of September 2012.
