T20 World cup 2012: Spectator Guide and instruction.

The International Cricket Council, the World Governing Body for Cricket has bestowed the right to host ICC WT20 2012 to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The Tournament will be held in Sri Lanka from 18th September to 7" October 2012 with twelve (12) Countries participating in the Men's Tournament and eight (08) Countries participating in the Women's Tournament. This is the first occasion where such a world cricketing event will be hosted solely by an Asian country. As the Host Board, Sri Lanka Cricket/ICC World Twenty20 Secretariat is obliged to provide the highest level of safety and security for the Visiting Teams, Match Officials and Spectators during the Tournament.

The ICC World Twenty 20 Sri Lanka 2012 is expected to draw an immense spectator interest both locally and internationally. Further, a large number of foreign cricketing officials, including the officials of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will arrive to officiate and witness this event. During this period the focus of the entire cricket world will be drawn towards Sri Lanka through Print and Electronic Media.

The Tournament will be played at the following four Venues.

• R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium, Colombo - 18 matches, including the Semi finals and final round matches.

• Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota — 03 matches

• Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy - 09 matches

• Galle International Cricket Stadium, CiaIle - Preliminary matches of the women's event will be played at this venue

The tournament will be conducted under ICC Rules & Regulations and spectators are advised to adhere to them in order to uphold the image, integrity and the "Spirit of Cricket".

 

ICC Policy on inappropriate Racist Conduct

 

"It shall be a breach of the terms and conditions of entry to the venue for any tick-et-holder to engage in any conduct (whether through the use of language, gesture or otherwise) Which is likely to offend., insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten. disparage or vilify another person (including _players, match officials or spectators) on the basis of their race, religion, culture, colour, decent. national or ethnic origin Such action will not be tolerated and is likely to result in eviction from the venue, the imposition of other sanctions, such as being banned from the venue in the future and possible further action including criminal prosecution "


The following items are prohibited to be brought to the venues.


1. Firearms of all kinds, knives and imitation weapons

2. Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs, explosives and flammable items

3. Glass bottles, tumblers and Cans including soft drinks

4. Alcohol, illegal drugs and narcotics

5. Metal rods, clubs bamboo or any other types of poles

6. Laser pointers and mirrors

7. Air horns and hooters of any type

8. Professional recording devises ether than of accredited media personnel.

9.Any other items that are considered dangerous by security/police officers on duty

(Spectators are permitted to bring with them water, fruit juices, soft drinks in plastic bottles or paper cartons. They are also permitted to bring in short-eats and snacks, etc.)


All spectators entering match venues will he body frisked by the Police at the outer perimeter of the venue in the interest of Public Safety. Any prohibited item will either be confiscated or Given back to the owner at the end of the match.

All spectators are requested to abide by the rules and regulations laid down to uphold the spirit of cricket and to ensure that matches run free of incidents.

Spectators are informed that for the first time in Sri Lanka, all seats and seat rows at Stadium Stands will be serially numbered and the seat/row number is indicated in the ticket issued. Hence, all spectators are bound to occupy the seat allocated as per the ticket. Private Security Officers and Volunteers will usher/assist and direct spectators to their respective seating areas.

(Spectators are Wormed that tickets are subject to verification electronically at entrances.)

Spectators are also informed that tickets are issued for a match day and when two matches are played at the venue, some ticket holders may only turn up for the second match and hence spectators are advised to refrain from occupying any other vacant seat in the block, as the ticket holder of that seat may turn up subsequently. If you need any assistance or information, please communicate your need to a Volunteer or a Security Officer on duty.

The Security Directorate is obliged to implement internationally and locally accepted public safety and security measures at match venues to ensure safety of players, match officials and spectators, whilst permitting cricket fans to enjoy the game with fan-fare within the accepted norms.

Smoking in Spectator areas within the Stadium is prohibited in prevailing Laws of Sri Lanka.

"Security Directorate wishes to inform spectators that the stadium arena is extensively covered with CCTV cameras and that all movements of spectators and surroundings will be monitored by the Venue Operation Centre constantly."

As a security measure, spectators entering R. Premadasa LC S. and Pallekele seating stands will he affixed with an Identification Wrist Band during Super 8, Semi Finals and at the Finals. The colour of the wrist band will vary t-om stand to qand. I. he Wrist Band will be valid only for the day of issue. Spectators are bound to wear them for identification purposes until they leave the venue for the day.

"Papare" music groups are permitted but not within the Grand stands of stadiums, provided they are in possession of tickets.

All security measures imposed are for your safety and security. We sincerely look forward to your utmost co-operation in making this tournament a success.

Parking facilities for Spectators (RPICS)

All vehicles issued with labels VVIP., VIP, Temple, Media, Uni Liver, Drop Off and Kaleel Vehicle Parks approaching from Colombo Central and Colombo South to the stadium should follow the following routes. From Maradana Junction, Panchikawatta Road, Sri Sangaraja Grandpass Road, Dr. Britto Babapulle Mw and along road by the Canal to the allocated Vehicle Parks. Vehicles with Uni Liver car passes should turn into Canal Road from the Northern bank at the bridge near Kettarama Temple.

Vehicles issued with vehicle passes "Drop Off" should also follow the route given above and leave the venue after dropping passengers. They are advised to return to pick-up passengers 30 minutes after the end of the game.

At the Grandpass Road / Dr. Britt° Babapulle Mawatha Junction, only the vehicles with passes VVIP, VIP, Media. Kaleel. Uni Lever, Temple and Drop-Oft and those with valid tickets will be permitted to proceed beyond. Vehicles with vehicle passes mentioned above, arriving from the direction of Negombo road should turn right at Nawaloka Roundabout and proceed along Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Bridge, Sirimawo Bandaranaike Mawatha (Prince of Wales Avenue) to Ingurukade junction, St. Joseph's street, Grand Pass Road, Dr. Britto Babapulle Mawatha. Vehicles with passes mentioned above approaching from the direction of Kandy Road at Paliyagoda Roundabout to proceed along New Kelani Bridge, Baseline Road, at Bandaranaike Roundabout turn right to Kelanitissa Mawatha and follow the same route as stated above. Those coming along Baseline Road and WellamPitiya should take Stace Road at Orugodawatta Traffic light junction and follow the above mentioned route to the match venue. Vehicles issued with li,aron Jayatilaka School and CWE Car Parks should approach the parking venues from Panchikawatta Roundabout, Pradeepa Mawatha., Those proceeding to Baron Jayatilake school should turn left at the end of PD Sirisena grounds. Those proceeding to CWE car park should continue along Sri Saddarma Mawatha and turn into the CWE premises. Those coming from Baseline road should enter Sri Saddarma Mawatha at the Traffic Light Junction near Samantha Hall.

Vehicles issued with car passes "Rajasinghe School and new Bodhiraja Mw should enter the respective Car Parks from Baseline Road.

 

Public Vehicle Parks

 

Facilities for the public for parking will he provided along both sides of Sri Saddarma mawatha. Vehicles without labels are advised to get to Saddarma Mawatha from Panchikawatta Roundabout or Baseline Road.

 

Special Bus Services

 

Sri Lanka Transport Board has made special commuter services for the public. From RPICS the special services will be located at Maligavvatta to the following destinations; Moratuwa, Maharagama, Battararnulla, Kadawatha and sla-Ela. These Busses will be parked down Pradeepa IVIawatha.

Similar arrangements have been made for commuters attending matches at Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium to neighboring towns in the vicinity of the venues.

 

SLTB Air-Conditioned Shuttle Service to RPICS

 

SLTB will arrange Special Air-Conditioned Bus Services from Bambalapitiya Railway station, from Ward Place closer to Borella junction, from Isipathana Mw Colombo 5 (near temple), to Kettararna. Same service will be available after the matches back to the same destinations. The return services will be located between Maligawatta Police Station and the Church of Our Lady of Victory, on Pradeepa mw. This facility will be free of charge. This service will be only for Ticket Holders free of charge.

 

Medical Services

 

ICC Twenty20 Secretariat has arranged with the Department of Sports Medicine of the Ministry of Sports to facilitate all medical requirements of Teams, Match Officials and Spectators at venues. members of the Red-Cross with a doctor and paramedics will also be present to attend to any medical needs of spectators.

 

Route to Pallekele International Cricket Stadium

 

From Kandy Town - Proceed along Sangaraja Mawatha (Road by Kandy Lake), Lewella junction, Thannekumbura bridge and to Digana along the Mahiyangana Road (A26)

Those coming from the direction of Katugastota to proceed along Dharmasoka Mawatha to Lewella Junction, Thennakumbu bridge and from there proceed along Mahiyangana Road (A26).


Route to Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium

Spectators proceeding to MRICS from Colombo could either take A4 Road to Palmadulla through Ratnapura and proceed to Sooriyawewa through Embilipitiya on A18 Road, at Padalangala junction to take B563 to Sooriyawevya town Those coming from Hambantota to MR1CS proceed along Meegahayandura (B631) to Sooriyawewa. Spectators from Colombo could either proceed along Galle Road (A2) or on the Southern Express Way to Galle, from there on A2 to Hambantota and at Nonagama junction take A18 to Sooriyawewa.


Road Signage

Necessary signage for spectator information directing them to Venues and Car parks will be located along the main roads leading to the Venues. To implement Security Measures, Traffic arrangements and Access Control to venues, Sri Lanka Cricket/TCC World Twenty20 will harness the services of Sri Lanka Police and services of Private Security Agencies.
